Safer & stronger together
Fryth Way, the home of football in Nailsea has seen thousands of games of football for over the past 21 years and in recent times plans to expand the club of Nailsea and Tickenham have made steady progress.
The committee in place have managed to establish a team of people who are striving to best the current facilities for people in the area, however a small minority are determined to upset our efforts.
There is sadly a history of mindless vandalism which taints the history of the ground and in recent weeks this would appear to have escalated seeing advertising banners cut, fencing being pulled out of the ground and a skip fire which had to be extinguished by the emergency services. Thanks to local dog walker Richard Whiston and his quick thinking he alerted the relevant authorities and a member of the club who were able to work together and provide access in order stop the fire from spreading.
Committee Member Al Parsons says “Rich was quick to act and thankfully we were able to make sure the fire was contained, Richard is one of many dog walkers who come to Fryth Way and we love having them down. Just like Richard has demonstrated, the dog walking community are our eyes and ears and we thank them for their service patrolling and reporting what they see” As a result Nailsea and Tickenham FC have now taken steps to try and prevent further offences being committed in order to preserve the access to the field for the wider community. The Club has established a partnership with PC Martin Faithful, the local beat manager for Nailsea and his Local Policing Team. A new set of CCTV cameras have been installed and the new Neighbourhood Dog-walker Scheme has been established.
If you would like to volunteer for the Dog Walker Team you can be added to the contact list by emailing email@example.com or following them on Twitter @NandTFC.
