Nailsea & Tickenham Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Alan Smith as first team manager. 'Smudge' will take over the Swags with immediate effect ready for the 2017/18 Somerset County Premier campaign. He will be looking to continue and build on a successful first two seasons for the club since Nailsea Town FC and Tickenham Utd merged in 2015.
Smith, who has most recently had successful spells with Wrington Redhill FC in the Somerset County and Clevedon Utd in the Toolstation league said:
"These are exciting times for Nailsea & Tickenham Football Club and I am pleased to have been asked to manage a progressive club. A town the size of Nailsea should have a team playing at Western league level. It is my ambition to put the club in a position to fulfil the potential and give Nailsea a club to be proud of"
Chairman Bob Gregory added:
"We are really glad Alan has agreed to join, it was clear after our initial discussions that we share the same ambitions for the club going forward. Alan's experience on and off the pitch will ensure we keep improving as a club in what are very exciting times ahead. When Nailsea Town and Tickenham United merged two seasons ago, if someone had said that the first team would have two top 3 finishes, be in two cup finals and the Reserves would gain promotion as Div 2 Champs, we would have bitten their hand off.
The performances speak for themselves and have undoubtedly elevated the clubs status in Terms of football in Nailsea"
Nailsea & Tickenham FC will shortly be announcing details of Pre Season Training including Friendly matches as well as the appointment of a club physio.
There will be a number of excellent sponsorship opportunities and the club would be very interested to speak to local business to continue partnerships within the local community.
