Nailsea & Tickenham FC 5-0 Wells City Reserves
Nailsea And Tickenham bounced back with a comfortable victory against Wells City Reserves.
A fairly bright start from both sides saw the first chance come to Wells as they broke into the box but the shot fired wide.
N&T's first chance came on the fifth minute with Joe Berry being fouled and holding the ball up well. The resulting free kick was a short pass from Aaron Latta into James Seeley who ran onto it and shot at goal but a defender managed to block it and they cleared the ball away from danger.
N&T continued to press and and a corner from Latta found Josh Benjamin who shot at goal but a defender cleared it off the line. A few minutes later Louis Keane whipped in a corner which the keeper got to but flapped at it and Latta got onto it and crossed it back in where Berry won the header but it went inches wide.
Just after the half hour mark Latta and Seeley combined down the right wing and Seeley nutmeged the defender and crossed into the back post where Josh Benjamin beat the defender and fired home to gives N&T a deserved lead.
N&T nearly doubled the lead straight away after a great ball over the top from Latta to Berry who ran onto it and tried to lob the keeper but the shot went just wide. With half time approaching Seeley switched play out to Benjamin on the left and his cross found Berry who brilliantly headed it to Louis Keane to smash it in and double the advantage.
N&T started the second half as they ended the first with Gary Freeman passing out wide to Keane who passed it into the box where Freeman stepped over it and left it for Scott Pilgrim to fire it into the top corner and give N&T a 3-0 lead.
N&T were close to making it four just minutes later when a free kick out wide was a shot from Latta but the keeper just got a hand to it at the last moment and put it out for a corner. The corner wasn't cleared well and the ball ended up with Seeley just outside the box to fire a shot a goal which went over the bar.
Just over half an hour left, Keane played a great through ball into Seeley who raced onto it and very unselfishly squared
the ball across the box to Berry who took a touch before firing it into the bottom corner.
A rare attack from Wells found their striker in a space outside the box and he quickly shot at goal but decent save from Jason Mellor denied them grabbing a consolation goal.
With just over 20 minutes left, Gary Freeman passed into James Seeley who ran at the defence and brilliantly twisted and turned past two defenders to then cut inside past another, before shooting on the edge of the box into the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance and making it 5-0 to N&T.
Things went from bad to worse for Wells after their defender picked up his second yellow of the afternoon and was sent off after two clear fouls and then kicking the ball away in frustration.
Closing minutes saw a run from out from defence by Ryan Cook who beat two men before shooting from outside the box but didn't hit it cleanly and the ball went out for a goal kick. The last attack of the game came to N&T once again and the ball ended up with Joe Berry who ran into the box but from a tight angle fired just wide.
