Nailsea and Tickenham FC 5-0 Wells City

N&T’s opening day opposition, Wells City were to meet a determined side well prepared for the season ahead. 0n 25 minutes Jake Murray fed a through ball to Joe Berry who smashed in his first of the day. It only took Berry five more minutes to complete a brace, crashing home from close range. A hatrick within 32 minutes. The best of the bunch. An overhead bicycle kick from 12 yards. The overworked Wells keeper Brad Phillips, did well to save from Freeman and sealey. His luck ran out just before the half when a James Sealey shot was deflected into the net by Berry.

Half Time 4 - 0

The second half saw more of the same from N&T who were now in total control. The only real effort to trouble Mellorsgoal was a long range strike by Dan Catley, who grazed the outside of the goal frame. Smith made a double substitution on 65 minutes. 16 year old Danny Robbins and 17 year old Joe Collins making their League debuts. Wells played the last ten minutes with ten men after Toby Jones received his second yellow card. Berry was not quite finished. Picking the ball up 20 yards out, beating two players and hitting the top corner to make it five.

India Cottage MOM Joe Berry.
