Nailsea & Tickenham FC 5-1 Yatton Athletic FC

Nailsea & Tickenham continue their early form by comfortably beating Yatton.

A warm Wednesday evening saw a bright start from both teams as they tried to gain control of the game early on.

Nailsea & Tickenham gained an early lead after some good work from Josh Benjamin down the flank before providing a decent cross into the box for Chris Gregory to bring down for Lois Keane who took a touch and found the bottom corner.

Yatton then tried to get an instant reply but some great defending from Ryan Cook broke down their attack.

On the half hour mark, a corner whipped in by Aaron Latta found Josh on the edge of the box who shot goalwards and Matt Pilgrim tapped it home to double the advantage and secure N&Ts control of the game.

A few minutes of good work from James Seeley found Latta who curled one from 20 yards out, but unfortunately hit the post and Yatton managed to clear it away from danger.

With five minutes left in the first half, a great play from Latta took it around a player and ran into the box to cut it back for Matt Pilgrim who finished the move off, only for a bad decision from the ref to disallow the goal for offside. Matt was clearly angry by this he talked himself into getting his first booking of the season.

The second half started with N&T on top and the ball played back to keeper Jason Mellor who knocked a great pass over the top to find Matt Pilgrim who raced onto it and lobbed the keeper from outside the box to grab his second of the day.

N&T continued to press while Yatton began to tire. A long throw from Ryan found Louis down the wing resulting in a pass out to Matt where he took a touch before crossing into the path of Chris Gregory, finishing from a few yards out, making it 4-0.

N&T continued to dominate possession in midfield where Louis crossed to Seeley but a decent defending header from Yatton's defender denied the opportunity for another goal.

With just 10 minutes left on the clock a ball through the defence put Matt through on goal but he shot just wide to miss earning his hat trick.

That didn't last long though as a minute later a ball from Josh down the wing saw Matt sneak between the two defenders to find the bottom corner and secure his second hat trick in two games, making it 5-0.

In the last minute of the match, a throw in from Yatton on the left wing found its way into the box and their striker found the top corner to grab a late consolation.

Full time 5-1.
